A small rocky islet, located at the entrance of Pirovac Bay, is known by four different names.
Island of Saint Stephen derives from the Franciscan monastery dedicated to St. Stephen the Protomartyr, whose remains now constitute an important archaeological site of this historical locality.
Name Sustipanac came from the name of a small island near Split called Sustipan, which was also owned by the Franciscans and is currently home to a psychiatric hospital. Sustipanac and Mojster were under the ownership of the same monastery for a period of time, which likely explains the similar names.
Mojster comes from the Italian word "maestro," meaning master or teacher. It is believed that the name originates from the fact that in the 16th century, Franciscans who were teachers and preachers operated on the island.
Island of love stems from various legends, in one of which some lovers, once confined on the island, vowed to join hands in marriage February 29th, in accordance with the customs of that time.
Today, the Island of Love is a popular destination for tourists and romantic couples. Although predominantly rocky, it boasts lush pine forest that provides beautiful shade throughout the day. This makes it a perfect spot for a full day of enjoyment and swimming in the crystal-clear sea. The island's beaches are mostly pebbly or rocky, allowing visitors to choose between calmer and more tranquil areas or more open and wilder spots for swimming.
