Pirovac Celebrates Statehood Day – Music, Tradition, and Sweet Treats the Pirovac Way

Pirovac Tourist Board, with the support of the Municipality of Pirovac, is organizing a ceremonial celebration of the Statehood Day of the Republic of Croatia, which will take place on Friday, May 30th, 2025, starting at 8:00 PM in the very heart of Pirovac.

The program will feature performances by three of Pirovac’s most active local associations, which have been preserving our cultural and musical heritage for years with great enthusiasm and love.

Participating in the program is the Bezdan Cultural and Artistic Association, which will showcase traditional dances and customs from Pirovac and the Šibenik hinterland, accompanied by vibrant traditional costumes. The St. George Choir will bring a festive atmosphere with patriotic, spiritual, and Dalmatian songs. The Pirovac Brass Band will provide a cheerful mood with performances of Croatian marches, evergreen hits, and melodies suitable for the occasion.

All visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy a rich program of song, dance, and music, reminding us of the strength of community and the beauty of the traditions we nurture in our town.

Alongside the music and cultural program, a special gastronomic treat will be prepared – homemade fritule and kroštule, lovingly made by the women of Pirovac. This adds to the spirit of togetherness and the passing down of traditions from generation to generation. These are the scents and flavors of childhood, of courtyards and Sunday gatherings – evoking cherished memories in all of us.

In addition to the evening program, on the same day at 8:00 AM, the Pirovac Brass Band will play the traditional morning reveille in the town center.

Statehood Day is celebrated in the Republic of Croatia on May 30th, in memory of the establishment of the first democratically elected multi-party Parliament in 1990. This day symbolizes the beginning of modern Croatian statehood and the role of the Croatian Parliament in preserving national identity and sovereignty throughout history.
