Pirovac has once again secured its place on the global map of premium olive oils. Olive grower Krešimir Uroda and his family farm, OPG Uroda, have won a Gold Award at the prestigious NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition in New York — for the fifth consecutive year.
The NYIOOC is widely regarded as the world’s most respected olive oil competition, bringing together producers from across the globe each year. Its awards are considered among the most significant recognitions in the industry. Winning a Gold Award is a testament to exceptional quality and consistent dedication, and the fact that OPG Uroda has earned this distinction five years in a row further highlights the high standards and serious craftsmanship coming out of Pirovac.
“We found out on Monday that our Uroda olive oil has once again won gold in New York. Five consecutive Gold Awards at the world’s largest and most prestigious olive oil competition are proof of the unquestionable quality of our oil. The feeling is like the song ‘More Than a Feeling’ — it simply can’t be put into words. It’s pure euphoria,” said Krešimir, still overwhelmed by the success.

OPG Uroda is the recipient of numerous Croatian and international awards. Last year, the family farm represented Šibenik-Knin County in the national finals of the “Zlata vrijedan” competition for the best family farm in Croatia.
Krešimir Uroda’s success story began with his return to his hometown of Pirovac. After spending 30 years in Čakovec, he decided in 2018 to come back home and take over the olive grove planted in 2010 on his family’s ancestral land by his late father, Ante. Although trained as an IT professional, olive growing has become his true passion. In a relatively short period of time, his extra virgin olive oil has earned numerous awards, and the consistent recognition year after year proves that this is no coincidence. As he often points out, he has never regretted returning to Dalmatia. Today, he is fully dedicated to his olive grove — and the results at the world’s most prestigious competition clearly reflect that commitment.
In addition to achieving remarkable success at international competitions, Uroda’s olive oil is increasingly featured in top restaurants in Šibenik and across Dalmatia. The latest achievement is the news that it will soon grace the tables of the newly opened Dubrovnik restaurant Dante, located near Fort Lovrijenac, with a menu created by renowned chef Stevo Karapandža.
The Pirovac Tourist Board extends its congratulations to Krešimir on this outstanding achievement and for his continuous promotion of Pirovac and its olive oil on the global stage.
