In the Begić family olive grove, located in the picturesque hinterland of Pirovac, members of the "Uljanica" Association of Olive Growers and Oil Producers from Pirovac gathered yesterday for a special celebration. The occasion was the recognition of major international awards won by their members at world olive oil competitions.
In addition to the association members, the celebration was attended by representatives of the Municipality of Pirovac, the Pirovac Tourist Board, and members of the media.
At the most prestigious global competition for olive oils, the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition 2025 in New York, gold medals were awarded to Uljanica members and family farms: Banovi dvori, Drenka Begić, Nikica Kartelo, and Ante Urem—affirming the exceptional quality of olive growing in the Pirovac region.
Moreover, the family farm Đani Lazar won a gold medal at the Berlin Global Olive Oil Awards for its extra virgin olive oil, further strengthening the international reputation of the association and its members.
The gathering was marked by a relaxed yet festive atmosphere, with local food, drinks, desserts, and—of course—award-winning olive products and oils.
On behalf of the Pirovac Tourist Board, heartfelt congratulations were extended to the olive growers, with a message emphasizing that they are true ambassadors of Pirovac, both in Croatia and abroad. It was highlighted that Pirovac's extra virgin olive oil has become a recognizable local brand, a valuable tourism asset, and an authentic product that preserves tradition and elevates the reputation of the local community.
Congratulations once again to all the award winners!
