Campaign to Acquire a Rescue Van for Animals: “Van of Hope for Cats and Dogs”

The animal protection organization Šibenske šape has launched a humanitarian crowdfunding campaign titled “Van of Hope for Cats and Dogs”, aiming to raise funds for the purchase of an official vehicle that will be used to transport abandoned, injured, and sick animals from the Šibenik area and its surroundings.

The campaign runs until July 31, 2025, with the goal of raising €10,000, the amount needed to purchase and equip a vehicle suitable for transporting animals.

The organization deals daily with cases of abused, abandoned, and injured animals, and until now, their rescue efforts have relied solely on volunteers’ private vehicles, which are neither adequate nor always available. Transporting animals is often stressful—for both the animal and the volunteer—and even more challenging when dealing with larger, severely injured, or particularly sensitive animals.

"Do you know that feeling when you're driving with a rescued animal in the car—barely breathing, shaking with fear and pain—and you're trying to drive, comfort it, and make sure it doesn't make a mess all at once? Volunteers at Šibenske šape experience this almost every day. In the past seven years, without an official vehicle, they have cared for around a thousand animals. At this pace and with so many interventions, a transport van is not a luxury—it’s a necessity. The vehicle will enable safer and faster transport to veterinarians, foster homes, and new adopters, significantly improving the conditions for rescuing and caring for animals,” the organization stated.

In addition to the online campaign, promotional materials and a donation box have been placed at the office of the Tourist Board of the Municipality of Pirovac, where anyone interested can learn more about the campaign and leave a donation.

The organization is calling on all citizens, animal lovers, businesses, and organizations to support this initiative—every euro and every share of the campaign can mean the difference between life and death for a being that has no one but us.
