County Prefect Paško Rakić received the Barić family, the best hosts of the Šibenik-Knin County

County Prefect of Šibenik-Knin County, Paško Rakić, welcomed the Barić family from Pirovac to the County Prefect’s Office yesterday. The Barić family are the winners of the award for the best hosts in Šibenik-Knin County as part of the annual Croatian Tourism Awards. During a warm and friendly meeting, the County Prefect presented them with commemorative gifts and thanked them for their dedicated work and outstanding achievements, which showcase our county in the best possible light, both in Croatia and abroad.

Alongside the Barić family, the County Prefect also received Bernarda Marasović, Director of the Skradin Tourist Board, and Katarina Šošić, a long-time employee of the Skradin Tourist Board, as representatives of the Skradin Risotto and Way of Life Festival, winner of the Gastronomic Event of the Year award. In addition, it is important to highlight Željko Čorkalo, winner of the Employee of the Year award in the Tourist Guide category, who was unable to attend the reception due to prior commitments. The reception was also attended by Ivana Vudrag, newly appointed Head of the County Department for Economy, Tourism, Agriculture, Rural Development and EU Funds, Krešimir Šakić, Director of the Šibenik-Knin County Tourist Board and Igor Bergam, Director of the Pirovac Tourist Board.

The Croatian National Tourist Board introduced a new award category this year for the first time — “Your Host of the Year – LOCAL HOST”, intended for hosts who hold the Local Host designation and provide guests with an authentic, personal and above-standard accommodation experience. This award highlights the important role of private accommodation providers in Croatian tourism. In a strong competition of more than one hundred Local Host–certified properties in Šibenik-Knin County, the Barić family particularly stood out. Their “Stone House”, located in the centre of Pirovac, was named the best property in the county, placing the Barić family among the top 20 hosts in all of Croatia.

The Barić family truly deserves sincere congratulations for this prestigious recognition. Their hospitality, dedication, authenticity and service quality have been recognised by both professionals and guests, and their success is a source of pride for the entire county, it was noted at the reception.
