Pirovac Celebrates Statehood Day with Song, Tradition, and Homemade sweets

On Friday, May 30th, Pirovac marked the Statehood Day of the Republic of Croatia with a festive cultural and traditional program that attracted a large number of visitors and once again emphasized the importance of preserving local heritage and community spirit. The event was organized by the Pirovac Tourist Board with the support of the Municipality of Pirovac, and the program took place at the town's central location, drawing both locals and numerous guests.

The central part of the event featured performances by the Sveti Juraj Choir and the Cultural and Artistic Association Bezdan. Both groups presented a rich repertoire of traditional songs and musical forms characteristic of the Dalmatian and Šibenik regions, which the audience recognized and rewarded with thunderous applause. The Sveti Juraj Choir performed a selection of patriotic and folk songs, while KUU Bezdan enriched the evening with their portrayal of cultural heritage through song, traditional costume, and stage performance. The audience was present in large numbers, and the atmosphere remained warm and cheerful throughout the entire event.

In addition to the musical program, much attention was drawn to the offering of local sweets. Particularly popular were kroštule, fritule, and pispaji, lovingly prepared by local women Aunt Mara and Mrs. Divna. Their delicious treats disappeared in minutes – a clear sign of their quality and popularity among visitors. For many, this sweet part of the evening was the most memorable, and deep gratitude was expressed to the women who contributed their effort to enrich the event.

The entire celebration unfolded in a ceremonious yet relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The organizers expressed their satisfaction with the high turnout and thanked all participants, performers, and visitors who contributed to the beauty of commemorating this important national holiday. A large photo gallery is available below, offering a glimpse into the most beautiful moments of the celebration and allowing everyone to relive the spirit of a Pirovac evening filled with song, tradition, and togetherness.
