At Croatia’s largest natural lake - Lake Vrana, located near Pirovac, there are four native fish species: the river blenny, the stone loach, the spined loach, and the strictly protected European eel, which is prohibited from fishing or any disturbance. In addition to the native species, the lake also hosts accidentally introduced or intentionally cultivated species, such as tench, carp, catfish, pike, roach, gudgeon, and several species of marine gobies and blennies. Sport fishing is allowed throughout Lake Vrana, except in the special ornithological reserve known as the Northwest part of Lake Vrana, where all actions that disrupt the natural ecosystem, such as fishing or disturbing birds, are prohibited. The most attractive fishing area is the southern part of the lake, from Crkvine along the pine forest in Drage to Prosika. The southern part, known as “Prosika,” borders the municipality of Pirovac and is home to the Prosika Tourist Information Center, providing visitors with information, ticket purchases, permits, maps, souvenirs, and more.
