The area around Lake Vrana is home to a large number of birds, with up to a hundred thousand during the summer. Out of a total of 251 bird species that inhabit the reserve or visit periodically throughout the year, there are 87 species during the winter period. During summer or autumn migration, over 140 bird species temporarily reside at the lake. Additionally, there are 13 species whose population in this area is relevant not only for their survival in Croatia but also at the European and international levels. All of this makes Lake Vrana an ideal location for birdwatching. Birds can be observed in the vicinity of the lake, and the trail is adorned with birdwatching spots as part of the ornithological reserve.
